SUDEF – Building ethical, export-ready value chains from Western Kenya
Who We Are
Sustainable Development Forum (SUDEF) is a Kenyan NGO based in Webuye, working across Western Kenya to build ethical, export-ready value chains that improve livelihoods and strengthen local economies. Our work focuses on:
- Ethical trade and social compliance
- Indigenous value chain development
- Training and capacity building
- Market access and partnerships
Why It Matters
Why our work matters: SUDEF bridges these gaps by combining local knowledge with international standards to create resilient, ethical supply chains.
Smallholder farmers face limited access to structured markets
Indigenous crops are under-commercialized despite high demand
Ethical and social compliance standards are increasingly required for export
Communities need sustainable income opportunities, not short-term aid
Our Pillars
SUDEF’s work is guided by four key pillars that define how we support communities, build ethical value chains, and connect local producers to sustainable markets. Each pillar represents a core area of impact, from training and compliance to market access and partnerships.
Where We Work
SUDEF operates across Bungoma, Kakamega, Siaya, Homabay, Kisumu, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Vihiga, and Busia counties, with a focus on indigenous fruits and vegetables. Our programs prioritize inclusive growth, youth participation, and ethical sourcing from smallholder farmers.
Let’s build ethical value chains together!
