About Us
Our Heritage
Founded in Webuye, Kenya, SUDEF (Sustainable Development Forum) has roots that trace back to 2005, begin-
ning as a grassroots initiative dedicated to improving livelihoods in underserved communities. Officially regis-
tered in 2007 under the NGO Board Act, SUDEF has since evolved into a respected regional actor with opera-
tions across ten counties in Western Kenya.
Our work is grounded in a deep understanding of the social and economic dynamics of the region, built
through years of community-level research, partnerships, and capacity-building efforts. Today, SUDEF stands
at the intersection of sustainable development, ethical trade, and social impact, championing systems that
work for both people and plane

our mission
SUDEF exists to reduce poverty and uplift living standards by strengthening commercial value chains for indig- enous produce in Western Kenya.
Through inclusive partnerships with cooperatives and self-help groups, we are unlocking long-term market access and building capacity in ethical production, social audits, and value chain development. Our mission is
driven by the belief that local communities should not only participate in global markets—but thrive in them
our vision
A prosperous and sustainable Western Kenya where indigenous producers and communities thrive through equi- table, ethical, and commercially viable value chains
